The Pink Panther was a character created to make just an introduction to the film Pink Panther, by Blake Edwards, with Peter Sellers. The film is about the theft of a diamond whose unique feature is that it has an image of a pink panther inside. It was such a huge success with critics and the public that, from a supporting character, he became the main character. There began to be a series of short films released in cinemas from 1964 onwards and in 1969, they began to be shown on TV in 1969 in the animation block The Pink Panther Show.
